So I promised a recap of the Julesburg weekend. We had three finals over the weekend. So in the interest of keeping this shorter than the Gettysburg Address I’m sticking to the finals only. We had a 22 car field.
Kearney Final (make up)
Dale Schroeder vs Kevin Jones
Fairlane vs Cuda! Dale was chopping down the tree all weekend aided in part by his new sponsor No Doz. Kevin out did him at the line though however that big inch Ford came on at the end and clipped Kevin for the win. Congratulations to Dale and his fan club Schroeder’s Seniors!
Tri State Hot Rod Revival
Ken Godsey vs Ron Kissner
Comet vs Valiant. Ken was killing that tree! He had several tough races but here he was in the final. The super fast, 4 speed Comet was en fuego!
Ron Kissner and his beautiful Valiant. A tribute car to our men and women in the military. Bravo Mr Ron! He was a wheel standing mad man!
So here we go. The final. Two fast cars. Ron stages. Ken stages. The lights flash. Ron is on it. Ken? Ken? No Ken. He is busy fiddling with his 8 track and trying to find his Cornelius Brothers and Sister Rose tape.
So….it’s over quick, merciful. Ken was a dynamo but Kissner is a killer and Ron is our champion!
Phil Godsey Memorial Race
A great tribute to Ken’s Dad and Kendra’s Grandpa. What a great guy and he is truly missed.
The final match up pitted points champion contender Trent “Young Gun” Dinkel vs Mad Mike McCallum. Would youth be served or would the veteran, driving a brand new car take the trophy?
Dart vs Catalina. Or as I like to say my Drivers Ed car vs a boat.
Both cars stage and Trent is a bit slow on the light. A good light by mere mortal standards but baby boy not happy. Mike nails the light catches the Destroyer Gray Dart and wins the race! Wow Mike wins in a brand new car!!
Congrats Mike McCallum good to have you back.
So that’s a wrap. Fantastic weekend. Don’t miss next year!!
